Passing your driving test is one of life’s great accomplishments and it will give you freedom, independence and hopefully a lot of fun over the years. Preparing carefully for your test is essential and these top ten tips will help you get the pass you want:

1.    What are your weakest areas? There’s no point in ignoring them as they might come up on the test. Confront your fears with Lee and make sure you focus on the tough bits before the test.

2.    Have you got the right attitude? Passing your tests is a show of skill, but it’s also about making the right impression. The examiner is judging you and you should be ready to be polite, calm and courteous.

3.    What are you wearing? You wouldn’t turn up to a job interview in dirty jeans and a hoodie, so wear something smart to your driving test. It’s about making the right impression.

4.    Do you know your highway code? Just because you have passed your theory it doesn’t mean your knowledge won’t be tested on the practical test. Refresh your signs!

5.    Have you got your glasses/contact lenses? You’d be amazed how many people turn up to their test without them.

6.    Have you got your paperwork? Make sure you prepare everything the night before.

7.    Are you nervous under pressure? Then don’t have a massive coffee or an energy drink before the test as this can heighten nerves. Practice taking slow deep breaths instead and focussing on the idea of passing.

8.    Have you thought about having your instructor in the car with you? Think about whether this would give you confidence and support or make you nervous. Everyone is different. Lee will come with you if you want him to at no extra cost.

9.    It’s not over until the fat lady sings… never decide you have failed half way through a test and give up. So often people only fail because they thought they had and then they don’t try as hard.

10. Only take your test when your instructor says you are ready and you KNOW you are. Rushing your test is a waste of your time and money. Listen to your instructor and be honest with yourself.
